Port Sultan Qaboos received the maiden call of the Altonia, the container vessel of Oman National Shipping Company which been deployed on their new feeder service called Gulf Express Service (GEX) connecting Salalah, Muscat and Jebel Ali.
The officials from Port Services Corporation ( SAOG) welcomed the Captain of the ship and exchanged plaque to commemorate the maiden call. The officials of Oman Shipping Line and the vessel’s operating agent Gulf Agency were also present to solemnize the plaque Exchange Ceremony.
The GEX service will have a weekly calls -Salalah on every Thursday, Port Sultan Qaboos on every Saturday and Jebel Ali on every Sunday. Currently, MV Altonia is the biggest container vessel operated by OCL. The vessel built in 2000 hold a length of 184.7 M long and 25 m wide has a capacity of 1,730 TEUs.
