The facilities empower our customers to move different types of cargo through the port.  The port provides efficient round-the-clock service ensuring quick turn a round. Round-the-Clock-Pilotage services. With its extensive and modern facilities, Port Sultan Qaboos has made its mark in the International Shipping Circle.

Service to Vessels

There are specialized terminal facilities to accommodate different types of vessels such as container, non-containerized multi-purpose cargo carriers, Pure Car Carriers, Live Stock Carriers and bulk – Liquid / Dry carriers, cruise vessels, naval vessels and others. There are eight deep water berths for commercial operations, one berth for ferry services and four berths under government use.  


Non-Containerized Cargo (Break-Bulk; Dry Bulk; Liquid Bulk) Terminal Services

The cargo handling and stevedoring facilities at Port Sultan Qaboos is geared to fulfill the logistics needs of its customers irrespective of the nature of the cargo - Break Bulk or Dry Bulk or Liquid Bulk.

Dedicated facilities to handle grains and bulk cement. And facilities are available to handle bulk bitumen, and vegetable oils.

  • Break-Bulk: Port Sultan Qaboos is the backbone of the supply chain in Muscat. The spurt in development activities across the country demands excellent expertise in handling Over-dimensional / heavy lift cargoes such as project cargoes, structural steel and timber. Wide range of cargoes pass through the port in the break bulk form. The Port is adequately equipped to handle all kinds of break-bulk cargoes and especially renowned for handling such heavy as well as delicate cargoes. The port routinely handles large number of automobiles in pure car carriers with exclusive parking yard. Livestock carriers visit the port.
  • Dry Bulk: The Port caters to the captive consumption of Oman Flour Mills grain handling requirements. The designed capacity at the rate of 500 tons per hour discharge and backed with silos of capacity120,000 tons. On an average 12,000 tons / day discharge is available. There are facilities to cater to Bulk Cement vessels with self-discharge pumps and silos of capacity to store 14,500 tonnes. In addition, other bulk dry cargoes like clinker, bauxite are handled.
  • Liquid Bulk: Pipe lines are used to pump oil to tankers and transfer to the consignee's discharge point. We handle huge quantity of vegetable oil for local consumption.
